Do you know the differences between John McCain and Barak Obama? not just the fact that one is black and the other is white. i'm talking about the differences in the policies they want to instill upon becoming President.. I was speaking to a younger voter (24) who isn't sure which candidate she is going to vote for. she was leaning toward Obama but she doesn't agree with his wanting to pull out of Iraq and end the war.. her reasoning was because if we leave Iraq we wouldn't be safe in the U.S.. she was assuming the fact that planes haven't flow through tall buildings in the last 7 years

is because we went to war.. then i presented to her the fact that the people who attacked us have nothing to do with Iraq and reside in Afganistan and Pakistan, and she replied by stating 'they're all the same'.. If you are misinformed or watch Fox News with Bill O'Reilly you would think that Afganistan and Iraq are very close countries and are the same. when the fact of the matter is that the distance from both countries is roughly the same distance from New York City to Miami Beach.. I couldn't believe that she was so misinformed and I bet she represents millions,

yes i said millions that don't have the correct facts and have a right to vote. the shit is very scary.. Mis-information plus power has lead to some of the worst acts in the history of the world. I don't think people understand how important one single vote is. we have so much power and don't even realize it. and with power comes a great deal of responsibility to get the facts for yourself, and to get them right. don't rely on the news media, friends, and family to cast your vote for you.. Voting is a right. but if abused other rights will be taken away... what do you think?

If you delve deeper into what the young woman said, you will uncover what truly lies within the core of her opinions...FEAR. With the aid of 9/11, George W. has perpetuated a sense of fear that has caused the country to go into a frenzy. As a result, people are not making sound decisions when it comes to supporting executive decisions, policies, and most importantly - voting. It is the fear factor, not mis-information, that creates an unholy union with power (i.e. Hitler, Hussein, and Bush - to name a few). Don't get me wrong, however. Mis-information IS perhaps the sole reason for the countries ignorance regarding political issues. But we need to understand that it is fear that allows leaders to fill their citizens with mis-information. Fear causes them to believe anything; and in many cases, they reserve their right to ask questions or do their own research (educate and inform themselves). As we all can see... George W. has been licking his chops at the prospect of going after Hussein and Iraq. 9/11 gave him this opportunity, and under the guise of national security and suppressing terrorists, he used fear to play the country like a fiddle. Ultimately, as you suggested, millions of voters don't know the difference between Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, etc. They don't even care to find out. But what's even scarier is... millions do know the difference but still share perspective of the young woman you referenced.
