? if you knew the political Affiliation of your favorite public figures, would it Change the way you feel about them

What if Lil Wayne was voting republican because he's rich and didn't want his taxes cut. or Tony Romo was voting democrat in a republican overhaul state like Texas.. would they lose fans? with 28 days until election day i'm starting to notice our society picking sides and people are affiliating more with those who are voting the way they are. with the daily smeers by both McCain and Obama building resentment in the hearts of the opposition, there harsh words are causing citizens to mean mug each other.. Most celebrities don't divulge there political affiliation due to the fears of the question i presented. but should it even matter? I don't think it should. but the way you vote says alot about you and what you stand for, and i don't support bullshit and that's what one of the candidates is all about.. so i guess it does matter to me. the differences in the candidates are so different that this is the first election in at least a decade where there really is not an independent voter. your either clearly for one side or the other.. so by supporting either candidate your saying so much about yourself.. Matt Damon has received roughly 2.5 million views on youtube of his verbal bashing of Sarah Palin where he refers to her running for v.p as a 'bad Disney movie'.. he's going to lose some fans for that. but on the other hand he will gain some for his speaking out. so i guess it will even it's self out.. But i commend him for speaking his mind and taking the risk, because eventually the political bullshit must be straightened out... what do you think?

Good question. Naturally (at least for me), I would feel inclined to feel different about a public figure based on their political views and affiliation. As you suggested, these views do reflect their values and opinions. For example... if you really like an artist, such as Common, for his musical content, which conveys political and social awareness, you would most likely be disappointed if you were told that he was a Republican. You would probably feel this way because you would expect him to support a party that encourages middle-class stimulation and growth. Because he speaks out against social injustice and exploitation, it would seem contradictory for him to support a system that broadens the gap between economic classes. Considering this example, Common’s affiliation would undermine the basis of me being his fan. He would seem like a hypocrite, and I would definitely question my support for him.
Nonetheless, there is another aspect worth considering. Too often are we in situations where we MUST look out for our own personal interest before that of the whole. Republican policies generally benefit affluent individuals while Democrats generally benefit the middle-class (which I believe ultimately trickles over to all the groups and stimulates the entire economy – but that’s just me). So if you're someone like Lil Wayne; it may be of your best interest to align yourself with a party that grants you more options and loopholes to protect your money and investments. Also, as arguably a self-made millionaire, it would be understandable if Lil Wayne felt that if he can attain wealth, so can the next person. As an advocate of free enterprise, he may be less fond of public aid or what some call “the Robin Hood System”. With this in mind, the GOP may appear more desirable to Lil Wayne. I'm sure that many people can honestly say that, even as millionaires, they would support democratic policies that shift tax breaks from corporate and upper-class groups to the middle-class (not to mention other social programs that give money to middle and lower income groups). Right now, I do believe that I am one of those people who would gladly sacrifice 15% of my 7 figure salary(15% tax of $1 mil still leaves you with $850,000) to help out a 75k income family who is just trying to get by (15% tax of $75k leaves you with $63,750). I only pray that I still feel the same way when I actually am earning a 7 figure income.
