? is it better to have Loved and Lost. or to Never have loved at all

What you get when don't get what you want is the definition of 'experience'. ask anyone who has loved someone and had it end on a sour note and they'll tell you nothing you can actually live through feels worse.. love is one of those things that is all or nothing. there's no gray area. you emotionally feel like a million bucks. or you feel like your emotionally in debt.. Now some people say that they've been in love before and they haven't been. and some people say they haven't been but have. but how do you really know? i'm one of those people who says i have been. it was a while ago but the 2 things i remember vividly about the experience which confirms my feelings are. 1) how much better of a person she made me. and 2) the way i would always put her feelings before mine.. now the 2nd point was challenged at times due to immaturity and too much pride, but overall i was very much in love.. and even til this day i am very grateful for the experience because it changed my life.. So i guess it's not hard to tell which side of this question i am on. you can't knock it til you try it.. love is one of those things that you can't plan or anticipate, it just has to come. but it's that lack of preparation that makes it worth while and so special.. The number one intangible that is missing for most couples who are in love or have the chance of love (and yes i am insinuating that they're are many couples who will never find love together) is the understanding that you have to put in work in order for the love to last.. i'm gonna say that again. just because he has a lot of the same traits as your daddy. and just because your momma likes her, doesn't mean that you don't have to work on the relationship every single day.. 'Ignorance is bliss' is one of my favorite all-time quotes. but in the case of love, i don't think that quote applies... what do you think?

? do you think Art imitates life. or Life imitates art

We as humans and especially as Americans love a great story. we love the reality of seeing and hearing about people going through situations as if Steven Spielberg was involved the entire way. i mean we almost elected a hockey mom as our Vice President, shit. we can't get much more obsessed with reality tv than that.. Reality has always been the number one influence for both movies and music a like.. the best inspiration is reality. but over the last 15 years we have seen music and movies that have been a lot more progressive and conscious about race relations. gender relations. sexual orientation, just to name a few topics. things like having a black president. women empowering themselves for high offices and being taken seriously. gay people gaining more civil rights.. all of these topics have been brought to the forefront in either movies or music, but just recently we are actually taking all three topics into the next generation of America.. Life gives us everything. our goods. bads. rights. wrongs. rationale. and concepts. but before we approach the public with something we find even semi-offensive, we test the waters through entertainment.. entertainment is America's ginnie pig. and they test every major social topic there first.. Art has imitated life for so long and still does for the most part. but you and i both know that this world doesn't sit still for too long. either something is gonna happen with global warming, or a famous Hollywood director is gonna come up with a new script. but either way we're gonna have some new shit happening. CNN hates it when no new shit happens. that's how they make their money and so do so many other businesses. luckily we have enough shit going on between Obama. global warming. and the economy that we'll be occupied with new material for a while.. but make no mistake. entertainment will continue to push that 'new shit' button repeatedly. let's just hope it's positive, not negative... what do you think?

? if you only had 1 year left to Live.. what personal acheivements would you have to Fulfill

Would you go to the moon. witness the 7 wonders of the world. swim with shamoo.. we as procrastinators, or as we like to refer to ourselves 'humans' have no sense of urgency when it comes to setting aside the bullshit, and focusing on the most important issues of the world. the only time we act with haste is when something is either taken from us, or we're running out of time.. It's the nature of our culture though wouldn't you say so? we live in a society that does everything it can to project the beautiful things in life. and why not. who wants to walk around hearing about something as sad as death all day. but we can't be foolish enough to not pay attention to it as if we all won't face it someday.. so with that said i ask you, 'What did you do with the time you were given?'.. We all know helping others is a personal responsibility that all humans are obligated to fulfill. but my question is pertaining to personal achievements. and if you haven't fulfilled everything you set out to do, why haven't you accomplished that goal. or are you on the right path to achieving the goal.. This question was mainly posed for everyone who needs a little kick in the ass. i proposed the question to myself and it kicked me in the ass.. so as you answer the main question think about the list you create and attempt to fulfill as many as you can in 09. i think your life could possibly change with a new found sense of urgency. yes, that's the word of the day URGENCY. don't wait until you attend someone's funeral to say 'life is too short'.. life is too short, so live everyday like you fully understand that concept. not just the words... what do you think?

? do you think Affirmative Action is still necessary

Is it even yet? have we reached to the level that epitomizes that famous phrase in the declaration of independence 'all men are created equal'.. i say hell no. we have come a long way, but we still have so far to go.. electing a black president is definite progress, but not mentioning he's black in the first place is major progress.. The biggest misconception that i hear about affirmative action is that it gives minorities advantages over the majority of citizens, but that is completely not true.. first and foremost affirmative action wasn't put in just to combat race discrimination, it was put in also to off set gender discrimination. so women should be down for it. and secondly, that majority of people that have made up america for a long time now have had their own version of affirmative action and it's called Congress. and for those who question that Obama will now give African Americans more privileges than they have had before should go ahead and admit that having a president that is your same race does make a difference. oh my bad, all of the presidents for the past 300 years have been white. what an advantage.. Affirmative action is only in place to make sure that there is an open playing field for minorities and women a like. it's not in place for people to cut corners, and it's not allowing un-qualified candidates to have mandatory interviews. it's only in place to combat the race and gender discrimination that has been going on for centuries.. A.A. is going to be necessary until race is not something we mention at all. so we still have a while to go... what do you think?
